  15. The tidal wave of Amiga users who are smashing against the shores of Pee
  16. Cee  shops  are coming away very disapointed.  I now know several people
  17. who  are  having  a  great  deal  of trouble coming to terms with msdos,
  18. Windows,  and  the many other applications such as virus killers.  (A PC
  19. virus  killer  can  take up to eight MBs of hard drive space alone).  So
  20. low  and  behold  they are coming back to there trusty Amiga's.  I could
  21. sell a dozen 1200's today if I had them.

  23. A  quick  point  worth  mentioning  to  you  people  who are thinking of
  24. changing  over  to pee cees, When you bought your Amiga you took it home
  25. and  plugged it into the TV, You had sterio sound and super high quality
  26. graphics.  If you get your pc home and want sterio sound the chances are
  27. you will need a new sound card and another couple of mb's of ram to make
  28. thinks work as required.

  30. Also  you  will  want  the  best graphics available for you new machine,
  31. better  go  out  and buy a new graphics card and a bit of extra ram.  Oh
  32. you  will also need a new monitor, Make sure you get one that works with
  33. your machine...

  35. Now  lets  really  go  for  an upgrade, Lets look at cd rom drives, Well
  36. quite  a selection are available but you cant just plug one in like your
  37. zappo  drive,  you'll  need  a  card  to  controll it.  It will probably
  38. require  a multi IO controller card.  Oh this may conflict with your ide
  39. controller card and that will have to be replaced.

  41. Okay  now  your  pc stands you at about £1000, But its still only a 386,
  42. well  lets  upgrade  it  to  a  486 and have to change all the cards and
  43. software  that  youve  bought, Also theres a new blobby cd out but my cd
  44. rom drive is so fast it does not work.  Oh and one other problem I ought
  45. to  warn you about is hard drives, If you fit anything bigger to you new
  46. pc than a 540mb hard drive you will need controller software.

  48. The  Amiga  is  far  from  perfect  and  it does have some compatibility
  49. problems  with  certain hardware, However compare this to the pc and its
  50. nothing  more than a speck of rain in a thunderstorm.  Remember that the
  51. Amiga  was  still  sold more software at Christmas than any other format
  52. including  the  consoles..   food for thought when you think that by the
  53. time you read this article all the commodore buy-outs and takeovers will
  54. be  complete.   This  means  that  companys like silica systems who have
  55. 250.000.000 Amigas on order will be supplying again.

  57. One  last  word, apart from doom have you seen a game on the pc that you
  58. have  not  played  on your Amiga last year?  Also if you think the Amiga
  59. cant run a doom engine call one of The NFA bbs's and download FEARS2.DMS
  60. and tell me its not as fast or as good as it's pc counterpart!!!!
